At ROI, we utilize a wide variety of equipment and technology, specifically designed to augment and accelerate the achievement of our clients’ goals. Each piece of state-of-the-art equipment has been hand-selected by our expert staff, compiled of physical therapists, exercise scientists, strength and conditioning coaches, Licensed Massage Therapists and a Registered Dietician with over 30 years of combined athletic and clinical experience. In this selection process, no stone was left unturned, and yet, no excess either. With these tools, ROI is equipped to enhance, augment, and accelerate any athlete’s journey toward their goals. Here is a brief view into the utilization and implementation of our acclaimed equipment that makes ROI stand out among the rest in physical therapy, strength and conditioning, athlete monitoring and athletic programming.
1. BStrong Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) Bands
Blood Flow Restriction bands offer a revolutionary way to train and rehabilitate. Athletes can train smarter, safer, and improve overall strength and fitness in less time with the same or greater results through the careful manipulation of the body’s cardiovascular system, resulting in a rapid increase in strength and power with less absolute load. This modality optimizes early post-operative gains in strength.
2. AlterG® Anti-Gravity Treadmill™
The AlterG® Anti-Gravity Treadmill™ integrates patented, NASA Differential Air Pressure (DAP) technology, a precise air calibration system and real-time information to change what’s possible in rehab and training. Using a pressurized air chamber to uniformly reduce gravitational load and body weight in precise 1% increments, AlterG enables patients and athletes to move unrestricted and pain-free – restoring and building muscle strength, range of motion, balance, function, and fitness.
3. Finnleo Sauna
Though after our sessions our athletes may be physically exhausted, a few minutes in ROI’s dry sauna will have them mentally refreshed and recovered. Heat stress causes passive vasodilation and increases blood flow throughout the body. Exposure to the high temperature of the sauna (194 degrees) causes a robust cellular response through activation of the heat shock protein. Increased expression of heat shock proteins is associated with increased mitochondrial and immune cell function.
4. PNOE Portable Metabolic Cart
PNOE is a portable cardio-metabolic tool used to analyze an athlete’s cardiovascular, pulmonary and metabolic fitness level such as VO2 Max testing, resting metabolism data, cardiopulmonary response, energy consumption (total number of kcals) and the contributions of the two major fuel sources — carbohydrates and fatty triglycerides.
5. The PowerPlate
The Power Plate is a vibrating platform that helps you prepare faster, perform better and recover quicker. By utilizing the body’s natural reflexes, the power plate increases muscle activation, motor neuron recruitment and improves circulation leading to greater gains in performance.
6. First Beat heart rate monitors
This monitoring system allows our performance experts to more objectively and effectively track an athlete’s physical and mental state before, during and after training or competition. This is not a standalone tool, but rather acts a vital reference point for intelligent and comprehensive programming. Heart rate variability (HRV) is the variation in the time interval between consecutive heartbeats in milliseconds. A parasympathetic state increases variability while a sympathetic state decreases variability. The interval between beats gets longer (heart rate slows down) when you exhale and shorter (heart rate increases) when you inhale. In addition to respiration, HRV is influenced acutely for example by exercise, hormonal reactions, metabolic processes, cognitive processes, stress and recovery.
7. Smartabase Tracking and Monitoring Application
Smartabase is an athlete data management system designed to improve performance, monitor health and optimize athlete development.
Smartabase was designed to give coaches and athletes the ability to collect relevant data, analyze it effectively and use the resulting information to guide actions and decisions for success in the sporting and athletic world.
