Eleven veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan join an expedition to climb the 20,000 foot Himalayan giant Mount Lobuche. With blind adventurer Erik Weihenmayer and a team of Everest summiters as their guides, they set out on an emotional and gripping climb to reach the top in an attempt to heal the emotional and physical wounds of the longest war in U.S. history. Representing nearly every branch of the military, the veterans, and the Gold Star Mom who joins their trek, bring humor and deep emotion to this hero’s journey all captured with breathtaking, vertigo-inducing cinematography by three-time Emmy winner, director Michael Brown and produced by Don Hahn (The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast). HIGH GROUND has won three awards since its premiere at the Boulder International Film Festival, and recently screened at the Seattle International Film Festival.
Summit IDG is pleased to present this special showing of HIGH GROUND to help raise awareness of injured soldiers in the Austin community with a Q&A and an opportunity to make contributions. Contributions will be used to help those injured in the line of duty meet their fitness goals. Come enjoy a night at the movies, learn more about our cause, and network with other veterans and supporters!
Be sure to stick around for a special Q&A with Veteran Nico Maroulis and co-producer and co-writer, Matt Murray. Nico was one of the 11 veterans and stars from the movie.
Contributions will go to aiding local first responders injured in the line of duty. Such as funding a wounded warrior to participate in 2013 race across america. We also would like to raise money for local wounded warriors entry in triathalons and sport specific training.
