SXSW 2020 is just around the corner. Whether you’re a local basking in the fun or you’re an out-of-towner looking to take advantage of all Austin has to offer, you’ll need some down time to recharge yourself. Luckily, SXSW is always packed with health and wellness pop-ups and events all around town.
Here’s an AFM short list of free and public events that focus on education, exercise or advances in the health realm. Free is always better for your health anyways. Just follow the links in the event titles for more event specific detailed information.

This event is said to be a peaceful safe haven amongst all of this year’s SXSW chaos. You’ll find talks from some event marketing game-changers, technologists and leaders in human connection — all while you take the time for yourself to reconnect with yourself and reful with the daily lineup of activities.

The Faregrounds

Sign up via the link for complimentary breakfasts starting at 8 a.m., free wellness clinic from Walmart, a free national delivery gifting service for senior adults from Home Instead in the Plaza and daily innovative programming from 9 a.m. until close. This event is about advocating “innovation for everyone” through problem solving with issues like innovation, technology and equitable access to healthcare for everyone regardless of ethnicity, gender, orientation, disability or economic status. Then stay after for a daily Happy Hour beginning at 5 p.m.
Goat Yoga with Critical Mass and GOGA Austin

Join Critical Mass and GOGA Austin to take a step back and think about the ways that new technology and the digital age influence our mindful choices. Then get ready to bend and breath to unwind a little while unplugged before heading out for a frenzy of SXSW events.

The Plant Power House by Herbal Essences and The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew

As 1-in-5 plant species are threatened with extinction, Herbal Essences and Kew are working for a more sustainable way of harnessing their power in hair products. They’ve invited everyone to come out and experience and learn the amazing beauty and power of plants, and become allies in their campaign to save 20 plants this year.
Poo~Pourri Giant Poo Tour — Let That Shit Go

We know it sounds weird, but the #LetThatShitGo campaign by Poo~Pourri, the before you go spray, can allow for some serious cathartic experiences. At this immersive experience you’ll walk through a giant blow up poo emoji that has all sorts of ways of pushing out the bad shit to let you start to feel like the shit.

Top CBD brands will come to showcase their latest products and advancements. You”ll be able to experience and learn about the various uses of hemp and see first hand the newest available products. An award show will take place on the 20th to highlight the best of the best in the nation.
Yoga with Adriene — Find What Feels Good Yoga

Grab your yoga mat and head to this perfect way to unwind during the stress of SXSW. Adriene Mischler is an Austinite that turned into an international sensation with her YouTube and online community for Find What Feels Good. She’ll be leading a yoga session for all levels, focusing on your emotional and physical wellbeing.

Give your mindfulness a little pep with this dance, yoga and psychology centered experience set to modern jams. Exploring the mind-body connection from an individualized outlook, the idea of breaking and continuing thought or habit patterns transforms. Educational, impactful and full of the moves you need to open yourself back up to the world around you.
