On Saturday, May 14, teams of family, friends, co-workers and others will gather to walk in the GREAT STRIDES 5K walk on the Concordia University Campus in Austin. Walkers will raise critical funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to support research, education and care programs.
Cystic fibrosis is a life-threatening genetic disease that impacts the lives of numerous families in Central Texas, and GREAT STRIDES, now in its 23rd year, is the largest cystic fibrosis fundraiser. The event raised nearly $36 million nationwide in 2010. Tens of thousands of walkers are expected to turn out at 550 walk sites—including Austin and Williamson County—during 2011.
The event takes place on Saturday, May 14 at 9 a.m. Walkers of all ages enjoy a day filled with outdoor kids’ activities, live music and great food. GREAT STRIDES raises critical funds for research, education and care programs that help those affected by cystic fibrosis in your community.
