The 46th annual Statesman Capitol 10,000, presented by Baylor Scott & White Health and scheduled for Sunday, April 16, 2023, is proud to announce Kerbey Lane as the official Cap10K Cheer Card sponsor of the race . Registration is currently open on Cap10K.com.
Jeff Simecek, Cap10K Race Director, believes having local brands like Kerbey Lane as a community partner in the Cap10K race imparts a hometown aspect to the event and celebrates the community it serves in an important way.
“As Austin grows and changes, we change too,” says Simecek, “The Cap10K team works hard to keep the local flavor of the event front and center through the changes. It’s a race, but an inclusive one and one for everybody.”
“It’s part of our core mission to support local organizations like The Mike & Sherry Project, our 2023 beneficiary, which assists the hospitality industry,” continues Simecek, “Kerbey Lane is staple of the hospitality industry for Austin locals, so we’re beyond thrilled to have them as a sponsor this year. It’s going to add a lot of fun for the runners and attendees, especially with the addition of the Kerbey Lane Cheer Cards!”
A customizable cheer card, which come in three quirky, food-themed options, will be available for runners, family, friends, or other attendees at the 2023 Statesman Cap10K Health & Fitness Expo held at the Palmer Events Center in Exhibit Hall 2 on Friday, April 14 from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m or Saturday, April 15 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
“Proudly supporting a fellow Austin born and bred tradition, Kerbey Lane is thrilled to be a partner for the 2023 Statesman Cap10k,” Mason Ayer, chief executive officer and owner of Kerbey Lane, said. “This event brings people from across the state to Austin every year and helps showcase the natural beauty of the city we call home. We’re honored to help support and celebrate one of our hometown’s most iconic races.”
The 2023 Statesman Cap10K benefits The Mike & Sherry Project. In addition to one dollar from every Cap10K registration going to the local nonprofit organization, race participants can also choose to make an additional donation when registering for 2023, which the Statesman will match up to $10,000.
Kerbey Lane was established in 1980, serving comfort food made from scratch out of a small, 1930s bungalow on Kerbey Lane in Austin, Texas. Over four decades in business, they have grown to serve the Austin area with eight locations and a recent expansion to San Marcos and San Antonio. The restaurant remains 100% family-owned to this day and continues to stay true to its original values of serving delicious meals that are thoughtfully sourced, scratch made, and affordable while welcoming all who come through the doors.
