Sodiu–M’m! M’m! Good?

In honor of World Salt Awareness Week 2011 (which actually wrapped up yesterday), here’s the latest in the legal spat between Campbell Soup Co. and four New Jersey women who’d like for soup marked “low sodium” to be, you know, low on the sodium.

“Consumers should not have to read the back of the soup can to be sure the information on the front is truthful,” a lawyer for the women said in a statement.

A federal judge has allowed the case to continue against Campbell Soup Co., saying the women’s claims fall under New Jersey’s consumer fraud act.

Campbell’s statement on the suit is not altogether surprising. They have “complete confidence in the accuracy of our labels and our marketing communications and that they meet regulatory and other legal requirements.”

What do YOU think? Do the women have a case?
